Your child that is covered by Medicaid can have their diapers paid for by Medicaid. Once she turned 4, I had my daughter's doctor write a "prescription" for the pharmacy that I chose to give me her diapers for free. After age 4. The pharmacy has also offered to give me pullups for her, but right now we are keeping with diapers.

DeleteI did some more research. I found two additional ways to get diapers at a discounted price.
ReplyDeleteFirst, some hospitals offer discounted diapers (and batteries) to current employees through payroll deduction. Sometimes it is listed as a benefit on the hospital's website; other times it isn't listed publicly online. So if you know someone who is an employee of a hospital, ask that person if her or his employer [the hospital] offers the option of purchasing diapers through payroll deduction. If so, she or he may be able to get the diapers for you at a discounted price. You can then just reimburse the employee of the hospital for the cost of the diapers when you receive them.
The second option is to purchase diapers (many other items are also available) through Amazon warehouse deals at http://www.amazon.com/b/ref=sv__img?ie=UTF8&node=1267877011. For the diapers, there may be minor cosmetic damage on the sides of the box and/or packaging may be damaged. However, the diapers themselves are not damaged. The lower the condition, the better the price. Hence, you'll get a better price for the same item in a "good condition" versus in a "like new" condition. You'll get the lowest price per diaper when buying in bulk.
The warehouse deals are awesome! Thanks!
DeleteYour child has to be four to qualify then?
ReplyDeleteYes, age 4.
ReplyDeleteThe cost of the diapers is covered by Medicaid. How I understand the age of 4 as qualification is that most typical kids are potty trained by age 4. So if our kids are past age 4 and still needing diapers, it is not typical, if that makes sense.
ReplyDeleteHere are some other diaper related items that can be provided as well: nighttime liners, bed liners, wipes. There are probably others, ask your child's doctor who writes the prescription or ask the company that is fulfilling the prescription.
ReplyDeleteAnd gloves too!
